The compressed file should be unzipped into C: to create C:\DxPADS_2007WS. All common files and libraries will be in C:\DxPADS_2007WS\Libs. These include an Access database file and a DxDataBook configuration file for use with the labs. Example projects are included for use with the various exercises.

The workshop includes exercises/labs for the following topics:

Lab 1: DxDesigner Environment (Project Overview, Creating Projects, Opening a Project, Adding Libraries, Tool tips, Decal Previewer)

Lab 2: Navigating (Navigator Tree Pane, Find Function, Properties Pane, ICT Viewer)

Lab 3: Symbol Creation (Creating a Symbol with the Symbol Editor, Creating a Symbol from a Spreadsheet)

Lab 4: Selecting and Verifying Parts with DxDataBook (Configure DxDataBook, Libraries with DxDataBook, Component Selection and Verification with DxDataBook, ODBC Setup)

Lab 5: Schematic Manipulation (Creating a New Schematic, Adding and Placing a Border, Adding Components, Adding Power and Ground Connections, Copying Symbols, Using Arrays, Rotating Symbols, Moving Components, Connecting Components with Nets, Naming Nets, Modifying Properties, Working with Bus Model)

Lab 6: Interconnectivity Tables (Creating a New Interconnectivity Table)

Lab 7: Constraint Definition (Entering Constraints, Changing Constraints, Creating a Constraints Class, Applying a Constraints Class, Creating a Differential Pair)

Lab 8: Variant Manager - Based on the Expedition PCB design flow, this represents a preview of what was released in PADS2007.4. The Variant Manager in PADS2007.4 will vary slightly from this preview.

Lab 9: Using DxPDF and Generating a BOM (DxPDF, Creating a BOM - Partslister)

Lab 10: DxDesigner and PADS Layout: Integration (PCB Forward - Netlisting, PCB Forward Annotation Automated Process using the DxDesigner Link, Dispersing Components, Cross Probing)
